Learn the Traditional Japanese Art of Jodo (Jojutsu)

The art of the Stick and the Sword

Shinto Muso Ryu Jo is a classical martial art ( aka Koryu ) from Japan which was devised in the early 17th century (the Keicho Period) by the renowned warrior Muso Gonnosuke Katsuyoshi. He successfully used his Jo (short staff) techniques against the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi.

Jodo is practised today one-on-one with a wooden sword (bokken) and a wooden stick (Jo). Jodo is practised with 12 basic techniques known as the 'kihon' and partner training enforces the basics through a series of 64 pre-arranged 'kata' (choreographed sequences) that become more complicated as you progress through your levels of training.
